Bastian Muhr (*1981) is an artist living in Leipzig, Germany.
He works in painting and drawing and occasionally realizes large, temporary site-specific works. From 2004 – 2010 he studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Leipzig. Since then, his works have been shown in solo- and group exhibitions in Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Spain, Slovakia and the United States.
Recent exhibitions include:
„Now! - Painting in Germany today“ at Kunstmuseum Bonn, Museum Wiesbaden, Kunstsammlungen Chemnitz and Deichtorhallen Hamburg in 2019 (Group).
„Form Cowboy“ at unttld contemporary Vienna in 2019 (Solo).
"Kante" at the Museum of Fine Arts Leipzig in 2018 (Solo).
"Schwarzbunt" at Jochen Hempel Gallery Leipzig in 2017 (Solo).
"Zick-Zack" at Museum Wiesbaden in 2016 (Solo).
Muhr's works are included in the permanent collections of the Berlin State Museums (Kupferstichkabinett), the Museum of Fine Arts in Leipzig, the Dresden State Art Collections, the German Federal Bank, Museum Wiesbaden and others.
He has been awarded with the Pollock-Krasner Foundation Grant (2019), was a resident at the International Studio & Curatorial Program in New York City (2015) and will be working as an artist-in-residence at the Josef & Anni Albers Foundation in 2020.
